Taking your car to France - FAQs

Do you stay in your car in the Channel Tunnel?
If you are travelling on LeShuttle, which uses the Channel Tunnel, you stay in your car during the 35 minute journey from Calais to Folkestone. Once your car is loaded onto the deck of its shuttle and your crossing starts, you can leave your car to stretch your legs or use the on board toilets. 
Can you go on Eurostar with a car?
No, the Eurostar does not offer a service for taking your car to the UK. Eurostar only runs passenger trains, so if you want to travel through the Channel Tunnel in your car, you should make a booking with LeShuttle.
Can you drive in the UK with your own country's licence?
Yes, your national driving licence will be recognised in the UK. Make sure you carry it with you at all times when you are driving in the UK. 
Can you drive a car in the Channel Tunnel?
No, it is not possible to drive a car in the Channel Tunnel. If you want to make a Channel Tunnel crossing by car, you should travel with LeShuttle, which crosses the channel from Calais to Folkestone in just 35 minutes.
