Reduced mobility

LeShuttle is a particularly good choice for less able-bodied passengers as all drivers and passengers stay in the comfort of their vehicle for the duration of the journey between the UK and France.

Our Folkestone and Calais Passenger Terminal Buildings are on one level, with parking spaces nearby for cars displaying the disabled badge. There is easy access to the shops, the Food Village, toilets and low-level telephone booths.

If you check-in more than 2 hours but no more than 24 hours before or after your reserved time, your booking may be exchanged, subject to availability and payment of the difference between the price you paid and the price applicable to the departure for which your booking is exchanged.

If you arrive more than 24 hours after your booked departure time, your booking will be invalid and cannot be exchanged.

Please refer to Eurotunnel Le Shuttle Ticket Terms or call our Contact Centre.

  • Check-in at least 1 hour and no more than 2 hours before your booked departure time.

Subject to availability you may be offered an earlier departure, if you choose a different departure time to that originally booked, this may be subject to an additional payment of the difference between the price you paid and the price applicable and the departure chosen.

Please ensure you are ready to present your booking details, passport and travel documents for all passengers upon arrival at our check-in.

  • You are likely to be subjected to delays and we therefore strongly recommend that you arrive in plenty of time for your reserved departure. If you miss your booked departure you may also be required to purchase a new ticket.

  • Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee access to toilet facilities on the shuttles. We provide award-winning toilet facilities – including disabled toilet facilities – in our passenger terminal buildings which we recommend all passengers take advantage of before travelling. There are no disabled toilets onboard our shuttles.

There are additional toilets available in the boarding lanes, and at the petrol station immediately after you leave the terminal (and in the Flexiplus Lounges for customers travelling Flexiplus). Please note, that whilst there are small toilet cubicles on the shuttles, the nature of our service means that we cannot guarantee they will be working during any particular 35-minute crossing.

  • The crossing takes approximately 35min, platform to platform.

  • As our name suggests, we run a shuttle service between our Folkestone and Calais terminals. Our trains run in a loop unloading and reloading at each side of the channel.

It's important that our departures leave on time to allow for the crossing, unloading and then reloading of passengers for the return trip, which must also depart on time.

Passengers may be delayed arriving at our terminal, or by the border authorities, which results in missing their scheduled departure and our shuttles not being fully loaded.

On peak travel days we must prioritise our shuttles leaving on time rather than at maximum capacity to ensure fluidity of the service in both directions of travel.

  • No - we do not oversell any of our departures.

All of our trains have spare, unsold capacity and on peak travel days, this is increased to provide more flexibility in ‘real time’. It helps us to offer a better quality of service to our customers as it allows for passengers who may be delayed reaching our terminal, or by forces outside of our control (such as delays at border controls).

Even with the additional trains we are only able to transport a finite number of vehicles per hour - once that limit is reached it can give the appearance of overbooking as the service will appear saturated while we work to clear any backlog of vehicles caused by earlier delays.

  • Our staff are fully trained in Health and Safety and are able to give First Aid. They are fully aware of the evacuation procedures. Fire fighters are always on site.

  • For reasons of safety, smoking is not allowed as it interferes with the fire detection systems.

  • Now that the UK has left the EU, Folkestone and Calais Duty Free shops offer you incredible deals!

Every person making a Duty Free purchase will be required to present a QR code when visiting the Duty Free shops. The person who has booked the crossing can present the QR code from the booking confirmation or from emails relating to the crossing. You can also register by clicking here. It only takes a few seconds and you save time in the shop.

* Subject to availability you may be offered an earlier departure, if you choose a different departure time to that originally booked, this may be subject to an additional payment of the difference between the price you paid and the price applicable and the departure chosen.
