Eurotunnel opens doors to electric sports car
during Burlington Beaujolais Run

  • John Surtees claims another world first – drives from England to France
  • Ginetta G50 EV makes historic trip from England to France
  • Low carbon transport for road and rail

As part of the celebrations to mark the 15th anniversary of the opening of the Channel Tunnel, Eurotunnel has teamed up with The Burlington Beaujolais Run and British sports car maker, Ginetta to deliver another world first.
 
On the 17 November 2009, 35 normally powered sports and classic cars taking part in the Burlington Beaujolais Run travelled to France the most environmentally friendly way. They took a Eurotunnel Passenger Shuttle.

At the same time John Surtees, former 500cc Motorcycle and Formula One World Champion achieved another world first, driving the Ginetta G50 EV electric sports car through the Channel Tunnel.
