Step back in time in the untouched medieval town of Bressuire Step back in time in the untouched medieval town of Bressuire

For a truly tranquil mini-break, visit the scenic Poitou-Charentes region of France, an area almost completely untouched by industry. A six-hour drive from Calais sits the town of Bressuire. A beautiful medieval area- just the place to unwind.

Where to Visit in Bressuire?

One of the most famous attractions in Bressuire, is Château de Bressuire. A ruined castle dating back to the 11th century, surrounding the newer luxurious Château built by Jacques de Beaumont in the 14th century. De Beaumont’s château is complete with 38 towers, because we all know 37 just isn’t enough!

Sadly, in 1876 the original Château de Bressuire fell into disrepair but was listed as a ‘monument historique’ in the 1990s. The castle is a truly beautiful place to visit, and the view looking down on the medieval town isn’t bad either.

Bressuire is surrounded by other really pretty places you can visit- and expand your knowledge of historic France to boot.
