December 18, 2015

Lights are twinkling, the scent of mulled spice is in the air, and the excitement is palpable – it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, especially at the Eurotunnel Le Shuttle terminals in Folkestone and Calais! This festive season, we have a whole range of treats and fun activities in store for you, to spread Christmas cheer and keep the whole family entertained.

Write a letter to Santa

We’ve been in touch with Father Christmas, and have arranged for some of his trusty elves to come down to the Eurotunnel Le Shuttle terminals to help the kids write letters and draw festive pictures to send up to the North Pole. The elves will be on hand all weekend, from the 18th to the 20th of December at our Victor Hugo terminal in Folkestone, and on the 19th and 20th of December at our Charles Dickens terminal in Calais, with various Christmas letter designs, crayons and decorations to help make every letter special.

Once they’re ready, our elves will help to address the envelopes, finishing them off with a special stamp before popping them into the magical letter box, where you can watch your letters fly off on the screen, directly to Santa in the North Pole. And that’s not all! You'll also have the opportunity to pose for a photo in our cut-out boards. You can choose from posing as a snowman, a gingerbread man, an elf, or even Santa himself! Tweet us a picture with the hashtag #festivefaces – we’d love to see!

Meet Santa’s reindeer

As well as the elves, Santa has also sent down some of his reindeer to meet everyone before their busy night on Christmas Eve. If you’re planning on travelling from our Victor Hugo terminal in Folkestone between the 21st and the 23rd of December, you’ll have the chance to pet these beautiful, soft and fluffy reindeer, and take some festive photos with them.

Decorate delicious gingerbread men

The fun doesn’t stop at Christmas, either, as from the 26th to the 30th of December at our Folkestone terminal, and on the 27th and 28th of December and the 2nd and 3rd of January at our Calais terminal, we’ll be on hand to help you decorate some yummy gingerbread men. These tasty treats will make the perfect gift for your loved ones, which you can personalise and hand-decorate yourself. And while you’re at it, why not make one for yourself, too – you deserve it!

Wait, there’s more!

As well as all of these fun, festive activities, we’ll also have choirs singing throughout December at our Victor Hugo terminal in Folkestone. We’ve been lucky enough to pair up with schools and colleges across the UK and France to bring you a whole host of fantastic choirs, such as the incredible Collège Jeanne d'Arc from Calais pictured below.

Plus, look out for all our Christmas competitions throughout the festive season. We have a daily Advent competition on Facebook, daily Christmas shopping offers on our website, as well as a daily prize draw to win not only your shopping back, but also a day trip! You can also to enter our big competition for the chance to win a whole year’s worth of travel with us for 2016!

Merry Christmas from everyone here at Eurotunnel Le Shuttle!

With so much going on, there’s no reason to not get down to the Eurotunnel Le Shuttle terminals in Folkestone and Calais. We’re looking forward to seeing you soon, and wish you all a very merry Christmas and holiday season.
