Le Musée du Bonbon, Uzès
If you make the scenic, nine-hour journey to the gorgeous southern French commune, Uzes, your little sweetie fans will be in for a real treat. You and your family can spend the day making your way around the Musée du Bonbon, a whole museum dedicated to the creation and distribution of sweets!
Learn the history of French sweets, from the machines that made them, to the advertisements that sold them. You'll also get to see how the famous Haribo sweets are made, and enjoy a chance to sample some of these tasty treats at the end of the tour - yum!
Musee du Bonbon
There's nothing better than a good splash around in a pool during the summer, and that's why the Aquaboulevard water park in Paris makes for a great day out with the family. Just think, after a quick three-hour drive, you'll be in your swimming costumes raring to go!
There are waterslides for everyone, from the super-fast Aquamikaze, to the smaller, more kid-friendly Aqua Jonas ride. On top of that, there's also an outdoor wave pool, so you can feel as if you're actually swimming against the tide. And, if you just want to chill out while your kids have the time of their lives, then relax in the park's hot springs and jacuzzis.
Stardust Park, Brussels
Just a two-hour drive from the Calais terminal is the fantastically fun Stardust Park, in Brussels. Your kids will get to climb and clamber around an indoor jungle, race each other in bumper cars, and get lost in a maze - amongst many other exciting activities! There's even a teen-nightclub for your older kids.
After you've all had your fill of fun, take some time to enjoy a lovely meal at the park's restaurant, where you can choose from a range of delicious mains and desserts.
Liège Aquarium Museum, Liège
My kids love animals, so whenever there's an opportunity to learn more about wildlife, we as a family jump at the chance. A great place to start is the Aquarium Museum in Liège, Belgium, which is just a three-hour drive from Calais.
46 tanks hold over 2,500 species of sea life, from friendly clown fish and beautiful coral reef, to darting sharks and piranhas. As well as the aquarium, you and your family will get to explore the museum's zoological exhibition. The bones of over 20,000 species are on display, including elephants, gorillas and slithering anacondas.
If you think one of these fun places could solve your summer holiday dilemma, then make your way over today. To ensure your journey goes smoothly, enjoy a quick, 35-minute journey with
