You're probably no stranger to skiing in the French Alps, but have you ever thought about taking your dog along for the ride? The Alps provides the perfect playground for you and your pet, with loads of mountain walks for you to explore and slope-side activities to enjoy.
For the ultimate alpine adventure I recommend that you head to Megève, a beautiful ski resort near the Mont Blanc. With plenty of pet-approved chalets in the region, you can enjoy hitting the slopes with your canine friend by your side.
The first time I visited this village resort I was taken aback by its traditional charm. With its cobblestone streets and medieval architecture, it's the ideal place to lose yourself when you're not out on the slopes.
When I'm in the Alps I prefer staying in a chalet, especially when I'm bringing my dog along – it gives him extra space to run around and he's able enjoy some down time off the lead. One of my favourite stays is with Résidence Lune d'Argent (Silver Moon), they have lots of beautiful chalets located just outside the main village.
Your faithful friend will have the time of his life wading through the snow and trailing behind you as you cruise down the more leisurely piste runs (yes, they really can join you on the slopes!) There's plenty of mountain walks for you to enjoy – whether you're looking for a challenging hike or gentle stroll, you'll get to soak up some magnificent views.
You can then choose whether you want to bring your pooch along to a number of dog-friendly après ski bars (La Caboche is a great little find) or head back to your alpine abode to snooze together in front of a warm log fire – what could be more perfect?!
So, what are you waiting for? The Alps are calling… round up the troops, sling your ski gear in the boot and get ready to hit the slopes!
