Travelling with a Pet Travelling Flexiplus

Visit our terminal

Once through Check-in (and border controls if traveling via our Calais terminal), you can visit our Passenger Terminal where you will have full use of our toilets and baby changing facilities. Shop at WHSmith, eat naturally with Leon (in the UK), or grab a Starbucks. Ensure your hanger is visible at all times while travelling through the terminal and on the shuttle.

Flexiplus customers can relax, unwind and enjoy complimentary refreshments in the Flexiplus lounge.

Have your passport ready

Drive straight through to the British and French frontier controls where your passport, vehicle and official documentation will be checked. On our Calais terminal you will then be able to visit our passenger terminal and enjoy the food, drink and shopping facilities.

Please note that all persons travelling must have appropriate documents to travel; a Livret de Famille will not be accepted by border controls.

Drive on, relax, drive off

Boarding commences 25 mins before departure time. Check the blue screens, our website, and listen for announcements. Follow the green arrows to your allocated slip lane ready for boarding. Depending on the height of your car, you will need to follow signs for single-deck boarding or double-deck boarding (find out more here). You and your pets stay in your vehicle throughout the journey - sit back and relax to get through the Eurotunnel, it only takes 35 minutes to cross.

Reduced mobility

Eurotunnel is a particularly good choice for less able-bodied passengers as all drivers and passengers stay in the comfort of their vehicle for the duration of the journey between the UK and France.
Our Folkestone and Calais Passenger Terminal Buildings are on one level, with parking spaces nearby for cars displaying the disabled badge. There is easy access to the shops, the Food Village, toilets and low-level telephone booths.

FAQs

  • For reasons of safety, smoking is not allowed as it interferes with the fire detection systems.

  • You are likely to be subjected to delays and we therefore strongly recommend that you arrive in plenty of time for your reserved departure. If you miss your booked departure you may also be required to purchase a new ticket.

  • Duty Free sales when travelling within Europe stopped in 1999. However, we do have retail outlets, in both the Calais and Folkestone Passenger Terminal Buildings. The retail outlets are situated in the Passenger Terminal Buildings after passing through Check-in.

  • The crossing takes approximately 35min, platform to platform.

  • Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee access to toilet facilities on the shuttles. We provide award-winning toilet facilities – including disabled toilet facilities – in our passenger terminal buildings which we recommend all passengers take advantage of before travelling. There are no disabled toilets onboard our shuttles.

There are additional toilets available in the boarding lanes, and at the petrol station immediately after you leave the terminal (and in the Flexiplus Lounges for customers travelling Flexiplus). Please note, that whilst there are small toilet cubicles on the shuttles, the nature of our service means that we cannot guarantee they will be working during any particular 35-minute crossing.

  • Check-in at least 45 mins and no more than 2 hours before your booked departure time. You’ll need your booking reference number and credit/debit card used.
